To my Future Son, Adam

I assume that many of you would wonder why I decided to publish this article though I am neither married nor engaged. There is no plan whatsoever. I may or may not get married and I may not have a boy, this only God knows. However, the only idea I have is if I ever get married and I was blessed with a boy, I would name him Adam. This is as far as I could get with the idea of marriage. This letter is for my future son about the lessons I will teach him and how he should treat women.

Dear Adam,

If you're reading this then you will know that you have been on my mind for years and that you hold a special place in my heart already. It would be funny to think of kids before marriage but it is basically what happened to me. The image I have of marriage is still blurry but you are the light I see at the end of the tunnel. I already gave you the name Adam.

You are a man and society expects certain things from you. I don't want you to worry about them. You will come across a set of rules created by stereotypes and some boundaries which you cannot overcome. They will make you wonder and doubt yourself. They will tell not to speak to girls and that if you do then you are weak. You need to understand that women are your equals in every way. Respect women and care for them because as equals; they deserve as much happiness and respect as I wish you to realize in this lifetime. Don't be ashamed to fall in love or getting your heart broken. Love is beautiful and showing it is even more beautiful.

I want you to be the change you wish to see in this world as Gandhi once said. Dream big and aim for the sky. You can be whatever you want because the future is only yours. Always stand up for the rights of others even if it meant sacrifice from your side. You will sacrifice many things in your lifetime so make it worth it.

Make mistakes and fail hard because only then you will experience life and you will appreciate the good moments. It is the only way to pave the way towards success. If you didn't make any mistakes then son, you haven't really lived. It is okay to admit it when you are wrong or when you don't know the answer. They say tears make a man less of one and strength will make a man more of one. In fact, it is the complete opposite. Remain true to yourself and hold your values high. I know that the world will put its toll on you but only to test you so embrace it.

Live the story you want to tell and I will never tell you how to write it but I will help you with lessons and morals. I will always be there for you and I will encourage you along the way. Always carry love and kindness with you and pass it on to the people around you.

With love,

Your loving mother
